NEMA DELIVERS RELIEF MATERIALS TO FARMERS/HERDERS  CLASHES VICTIMS IN PLATEAU STATE.

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zonal office Jos today, the 14th of September 2023 commenced the second phase distribution of relief materials to the victims of Farmers/Herders clashes in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Delivering the items, the Director General of the Agency Alh. Mustapha Habib said the items were meant to cushion the effects of Disaster on the victims.

The Director General who was represented by the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Eugene Nyelong sympathized with  the people and told them to embrace peace and live in peace with one another. He noted that the additional material came as result of the repeated attacks in various communities in the Local Government after the one that  occurred on the 8th of May, 2023.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the Governor of Plateau State Barr. Caleb Mutfwang appreciated the Agency and noted that relief items will go a Long way in alleviating the suffering of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The Governor who was represented by the management committee Chairman of the Local Government Hon. Markus Artu assured that the items will be given only to the affected people.

In his remarks, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of Plateau State Emergency management Agency (PLASEMA) Mr. Sunday Abdu thanked the Agency for the relief materials and noted his agency will continue to collaborate  with NEMA .

The relief materials which is worth millions of naira included food and non-food items, with building materials.

The Flag-off off of  the second phase of  distribution exercise took place at Plateau Agriculture Development Program (PADP) in Mangu Local Government Area of the State.

Present at the Flag-off includes the  Security agencies -Police, Army Civil Defense, SSS. Others present are the State Emergency Management Agency, the Nigerian Red Cross, representatives of various communities, CAN, JNI among others

The conflicts  in Mangu  have affected thirty six thousand three hundred and eighty three people(36,683) who are living in Eight (8) self established 
camps and host communities within the Local Government Area of the State.
