
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Abuja Operations Office, on Thursday, 21st August 2025, received the Federal Capital Territory Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Madam Achary Opaluwah, on a courtesy visit aimed at deepening collaboration between the two institutions.
The visit began with a warm reception and a round of introductions, setting the stage for constructive deliberations.
In her remarks, Madam Opaluwah underscored the purpose of the visit, stressing the importance of synergy between NEMA and NOA in advancing public awareness, sensitization, and disaster risk reduction campaigns. She noted that both agencies share complementary mandates in mobilizing and educating the public to enhance safety, resilience, and national development. She further highlighted programs being planned by NOA to promote orientation on disaster-related issues across communities.
Responding, the Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office Pharm Zakari Abubakar welcomed the Director and her delegation, commending the initiative. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment under the leadership of the Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders such as NOA. He also explained the structure of emergency management in Nigeria and emphasized the vital role NOA plays in disaster sensitization. He assured of NEMA’s readiness to expand areas of collaboration for improved outcomes.
The event featured a vote of thanks, an exchange of souvenirs between both organizations, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
The courtesy visit was attended by senior officers of NEMA Abuja Operations Office and the NOA FCT Directorate, who expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would foster stronger community-based awareness campaigns and more effective disaster management across the FCT.
