
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Gombe Operations Office, has responded to the unfortunate building collapse that occurred today at the new Judiciary Complex in Gombe, Gombe State.
The Head of NEMA Gombe Operations Office, Mrs Ummuna Ahmed, led a team of emergency responders to the scene to conduct a rapid assessment and coordinate search and rescue operations alongside relevant stakeholders and emergency response agencies in the state.
The search and rescue operation is aimed at ensuring safe evacuation of victims and providing immediate emergency support to those affected.
Preliminary findings from the assessment indicate that one person lost his life in the incident, five injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the Specialist Hospital Gombe while two others are at the federal Teaching Hospital Gombe. Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing to ascertain whether more persons remain trapped under the debris.
NEMA commends the prompt response and collaboration of all participating emergency response agencies and stakeholders working tirelessly at the scene. The Agency assures the public that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary humanitarian assistance as further information becomes available.
The public is advised to remain calm, avoid the affected area and rely only on verified information from relevant authorities.
