NEMA, SOO Assesses Flood in 5 LGAs of Kebbi State

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sokoto Operations Office (SOO), in collaboration with the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has conducted an assessment of communities affected by flooding across five Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kebbi State.

The LGAs affected include Gwandu, Jega, Aliero, Augie, and Argungu, where about 15 communities were impacted. The flooding destroyed houses and farmlands, with reports of rooftops blown off and walls collapsed, leaving several residents displaced.

Despite the widespread damage, some households have begun partial rehabilitation of their homes in order to sustain their livelihoods while awaiting further support.

NEMA and Kebbi SEMA, working jointly with other stakeholders, have commenced rapid assessments to determine the full extent of the damage and the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected population.
