NEMA Distributes Relief Materials to Windstorm and Flood Victims in Lagos State

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, has conducted the direct distribution of relief materials to persons affected by the recent windstorm and flood disaster in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The distribution exercise took place at Seadon Hotel Afromedia along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and was aimed at providing immediate humanitarian assistance to households whose homes, businesses, livelihoods and other valuable property were affected by the disaster.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Head of Operations conveyed the sympathy and solidarity of the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, to the affected residents. He stated that the intervention was approved by the Director General in line with the Agency’s mandate to provide timely humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected communities across the country.

The exercise was carried out by officials of the NEMA Lagos Operations Office in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), relevant security agencies and community representatives, ensuring a transparent, orderly and efficient distribution process.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NEMA for the timely intervention, describing the support as a welcome relief that would help cushion the impact of the disaster on their families. The distribution exercise was successfully concluded in a peaceful, organized and transparent manner.
