Responding to a distress call from residents of Ita Oshin in Abeokuta South LGA of Ogun State, the South West Zonal Office of NEMA, in collaboration with the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, conducted an on the spot assessment to determine the extent of the damage. Led by Zonal Coordinator Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, the team was warmly received by residents and shop owners upon arrival, who escorted them through the affected area. The disaster affected 1370 individuals, 64 residential buildings and 47 shops. Also, 6 cars were burnt. properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the explosion. Regrettably, one (1) fatality occurred, and four (4) others were injured in the explosion, while several individuals sustained minor injuries while fleeing the scene of the incident. The Zonal Coordinator took his time to convey his sincere condolences and empathy to the individuals and families who were affected by the tragic incident. He expressed genuine concern for their well-being and assured them of the support and assistance available from the authorities.
