NEMA Ekiti Operations Office Emergency Response Team responded to a distress call in collaboration with the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency of a fire tanker incident that claims lives and destroyed property.
A tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control and spilled its content into a river at Omi-ayo community in Ore LGA at about 6 pm on Sunday 23rd July 2023. An eyewitness recounted that the fire incident occurred as a result of some people’s activities that took advantage to scoop fuel in the river. The FRSC Ondo State Command confirmed to the team that 8 persons died and 2 others were receiving treatment at General Hospital, Ore and Ogo-Oluwa Hospital, Ore respectively.
