In continuation of the effort of NEMA South South Zone to sensitize and prepare emergency state actors on the flood situation in the zone, the Zonal Coordinator Godwin Tepikor was on a live interview at Wazobia 94.1FM, Port Harcourt to sensitize the public discuss the flood and the roles of Frontline Governments in responding to the disaster. Issues centred around identifying safe, higher ground and need for urgent evacuation of vulnerable communities to temporary shelters. Also the need for SEMAs to procure platforms to ease evacuation and provision of relief assistance to cushion the impact of the disaster on the affected persons, and the strengthening of state-wide emergency response actors to prepare for the task ahead were discussed, as NEMA continues to monitor the situation.
