The Search and Rescue Unit is headed by a Deputy Director (DDSAR). The unit parades a crop of highly specialized operational staff (SAROs) skilled in all aspects of Search and Rescue.
Some of the activities of the unit in 2013 include:

  • Participation at the FRSC Silver Jubilee International Conference on SAR Equipment Exhibition, and Rockefeller International Economic Conference held at Abuja.
  • Participation at the Nigerian Air Force Civil-Military Operation ‘Ebiye Rin’ organized by Mobility Command, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
  • Participation at a two-day Stakeholders Security Forum on the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (NAI) held in Abuja.
  • Successful evacuation drills, mass casualty handling training and experience sharing exercises with stakeholders across the zonal offices
    Training of ERT members on use of SAR equipment.
  • Timely response to fire incidents, vehicular crashes and response to the Associated Airline crash in Lagos
