The officials of NEMA Yola Operations Office led by Ladan Ayuba conducted an on the spot assessment in Ganye and Jada LGAs which have been most impacted by the disaster.

The assessment is part of NEMA’s efforts to evaluate the impact of drought on communities and agricultural activities in the state with a view to recommend necessary federal government support to the LGAs.

The findings of the assessment team revealed that the drought has significantly impacted agriculture affecting about 1250 hectares of farmland across Jada and Ganye LGAs , disrupted water supply and overall livelihoods in the areas. The impacts have been severe with varying degrees of intensity across Nine other LGAs in the State.

The findings from this assessment are expected to guide the formulation of response strategies, including the provision of relief materials, support for affected farmers, and the implementation of long-term measures to improve resilience against future droughts.

This effort highlights the ongoing challenges posed by climate change in Nigeria and the need for coordinated responses to address the impacts on vulnerable communities.
