1. Overview
The Communication/IT Division a is overseen by an Assistant Director with staff strength of 22. The staffs are currently spread out between the HQ and Zonal Offices. The Division is tasked to:
a) Advise the management on the best practices in communications engineering.
b) Advise the management on how to achieve efficient intra/inter Agency communications as well as communication with the general public for the purpose of disaster management.
c) Supervise the installation of all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems of the Agency
d) Operate and maintain the available ICT systems for optimal performance
e) Acquisition and upgrade of ICT facilities in the Agency to meet international standards for disaster and emergency communication
f) Ensure that all communications systems are serviceable at all times by updating the payment of license fees and other bills
g) Management and maintenance of the Agency’s Emergency Response Contact Centre
h) Orientation and capacity building for NEMA staff on Emergency and Communication
i) Perform other ad-hoc responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director and/or the Director General.
