NEMA TRAINS M.Sc. STUDENTS OF CDRMDS, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT ON FIELD WORK

NEMA South South zonal office carried out capacity building for students of the Centre for Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies of the University of Port Harcourt.
The programme tagged “Field Work”was a collaborative effort between the Centre and the Agency that is aimed at exposing the students to disaster management in practice in order to complement the theoretical knowledge gained, and a prerequisite for the award of the degree of M.Sc in Disaster Risk Management & Development Studies of the University.
Areas covered included: Historical Background of NEMA; Accident Victim Management & Truama Care; CCCM; Basic Life Support; Post-disaster Needs Assessment & Report writing, etc.
The Zonal Coordinator Godwin Tepikor who represented the Director General of the Agency Mustapha Habib Ahmed thanked the Centre for this initiative, stressing that this initiative will better equip the students as professional disaster managers on graduation and achieve the objective of NEMA in setting up of the Centre’s across the country. On his part, the Centre Director Dr. Mbee Daniel Mbee appreciated the effort of the support Agency to the Centre and pledged that the collaboration will be sustained.
