NEMA hands over 1,822.5 Metric Tons of grains for distribution to the poor and vulnerable individuals in Borno State

Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has handed over 1,822.5 Metric Tons of grains for distribution to the poor and vulnerable individuals in Borno State to alleviate the impact of the current economic difficulties in the country.

During the presentation of the grains to the Governor of Borno State, Engineer Baba Gana Zulum, NEMA’s Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of Nigerians. Mrs. Umar was represented by Yakubu Suleiman, NEMA’s North-East Zonal Director.

She stated that this initiative demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to supporting Nigerians during these challenging times. The distribution aims to mitigate the high cost of food items and the economic hardship faced by vulnerable populations.

Mrs. Umar highlighted that this effort aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and fulfills President Tinubu’s promise to lessen the impact of current hardships in the country.

“As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, President Tinubu approved the release of 42,000 metric tons of assorted food commodities from the National Strategic Reserve, managed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The food commodities include maize, millet, sorghum, maize grits, and cassava flour (garri).”

NEMA officials are collaborating with the office of the National Security Adviser,Department of State Security Service (DSS) and anti-corruption agencies to ensure the commodities reach the intended recipients.

Governor Zulum praised the Federal Government for the support and assured that the food items would be distributed to the rightful beneficiaries according to the federal government’s guidelines.
