NEMA Lagos Territorial Office LTO responded to a collapse building alert today, 29 May, 2024. The incident involved a 4 storey building at 15, Iga Iduganran street, Lagos Island that was undergoing renovation with people trapped under. The affected building had earlier been marked by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the occupants given quit notice. Information gotten revealed the trapped persons were those that refused to vacate the premise when others left. 10 persons were brought out alive and taken to the hospitals for treatment. All the trapped persons were accounted for and the excavator still working to bring the building to ground zero.
Agencies on ground include NEMA, LASEMA, LASAMBUS, LASBCA Nigeria Police, State Fire Service, LASPPPA and the Red Cross.
