NEMA, ECHO and Partners Explore Strategic Humanitarian Collaboration

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has received a high-level delegation from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and partner organizations at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit provided a platform for strategic engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and exploring new avenues for coordinated humanitarian interventions across Nigeria.

The ECHO delegation was led by Mr. Giuseppe Angelini, Head of Unit for Central and West Africa at DG ECHO Headquarters in Belgium. The other partner organizations were the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), and the French-based humanitarian non-profit organization, 3iS.

In her remarks, Mrs. Zubaida Umar commended the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to working closely with national and international partners on initiatives that align with Nigeria’s national interest and the Federal Government’s humanitarian policy priorities.

She emphasized that synergy among local and international actors remains vital to ensuring effective preparedness, timely response, and sustainable recovery for populations affected by disasters and
humanitarian challenges across the country.
