As a Proactive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) method and part of their goals and objectives, the CDS group members embarked on a sensitization visit to the aforementioned school to raise an awareness on fire and its prevention. The sensitization was geared at building their response capacity in order to ensure that there are early warning systems and response mechanisms in fire situations.
The speakers emphasised on the need to avoid bush burning and the essense of been concious when using fire. they also advised them to avoid keeping flammable items in their houses as fire when not controlled is an enemy.
The students were also sensitized on electrical fire and were urged to avoid illegal/wrong electrical connections; but in the case of any fire outbreak, an alarm should be raised.
