Sequel to the establishment of Nigerian Fire Extinguishers Control by the Federal Executive Council and approval for its implementation across the 36 States and FCT under public-private partnership agreement, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Abuja Operations Office held an inaugural meeting with key stakeholders to develop a work plan for FCT.

The meeting provided avenue for discussion on modalities for a seamless implementation as well identification of critical stakeholders with requisite mandate and resources to contribute to the success of the project.

The project among other things involves sensitization and public awareness on effective deployment of Fire Extinguishers, identification of expiration dates on gas cylinders/Fire extinguishers , training of filling stations managers and Fire extinguisher vendors, interagency collaboration on fire safety codes and compliance as core activities in the preparedness phase for an effective fire disaster management.
