On July 2, 2024, the NEMA South-West Zonal Office received a distress alert about a collapsed storey building at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, at around 4:50 PM. Zonal Coordinator Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju promptly mobilized response stakeholders to the scene. Three people (two men and one woman) were rescued alive from the rubble and taken to Oke Ado Hospital for immediate medical care. No lives were lost.
Stakeholders present included NEMA, SEMA, NPF, NSCDC, FRSC, and the state and federal fire services. On July 3, a joint response team visited Oke-Ado Hospital to assess the victims’ recovery. The two male victims had been discharged, while the female victim was still receiving treatment.
