NEMA/ADSEMA CONDUCTS ASSESSMENT OF FLOOD AFFECTED COMMUNITIES IN SONG LGA, ADAMAWA STATE

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola Operations Office, in partnership with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and other stakeholders, has carried out an assessment of communities affected by recent flooding in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The assessment team visited Gudure, Gada Mayo, Kolere, Brawo, and Magomiya, where several houses were destroyed, farmlands were washed away, and reports of injuries and a missing person were confirmed. Findings also revealed that the bridge linking Song and Zumo Districts was submerged, cutting off access to many communities.

The situation highlights the recurring nature of flooding in the area and the urgent need for long-term infrastructural solutions to reduce the impact on lives and livelihoods.

While in Song, the team commiserated with the family of the missing child and extended condolences on behalf of both the Adamawa State Government and NEMA.

The agencies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting affected communities and pledged to continue working with stakeholders to promote sustainable measures to address recurring flood challenges in the state.
