NEMA/SEMA CONDUCT JOIN ASSESSMENT ON PLATEAU FLOOD

The National Emergency management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zonal office Jos in Collaboration with Plateau State Emergency management Agency (PLASEMA) and the Red Cross today 18th September 2023 carried out an on-the-spot assessment on the flood that ravaged Rikkos, Angwar Rogo and Akpata communities on 16th and 17th of September in Jos North Local Government Area of plateau State.

During the assessment, it was discovered that one hundred and fifty two (152) houses were affected with water levels rising to near residential roof tops . Furthermore, most of the residential buildings failed to ahead to building codes by building on water ways that has resulted in persistent flooding over the years of which the recent flooding has been the most impactful resulting in loss of live ( three (3) deceased )

The unfortunate incident has displace currently one thousand three hundred and four (1,304) persons with most living in host communities.
