NEMA South South Zone today rescued a victim at a traffic site along the ever busy East-West Road by Rumuosi junction in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident which occurred at about 9.30 pm on 22nd April, 2023 involved a dead weight 40T truck and a Toyota Camry. The NEMA team which was led by Fortunatus Anyanwu (ACSARO) reported that the truck skidded off the road and fell on the Camry resulting in the death of a young boy while attempting to cross the road, and the occupant of the Camry who sustained injury was evacuated to the UPTH for further medical attention.
The exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Choba Division of the Nigeria Police Force. The scene has been cleared for vehicular traffic.
