NEMA commence distribution of food baskets donated by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Saudi Arabia for vulnerable persons in Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Borno States.

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) commenced in Kano state, the distribution of food baskets donated by Saudi Arabia based international humanitarian organization, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) for most vulnerable persons in Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Borno States.

The Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar was represented by the Director Special Duties Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim at the flag-off of the distribution, which was performed by the Deputy Governor of Kano State Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam that represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The Deputy Governor appreciated the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the kind gesture and the Federal Government through NEMA for facilitating the food supports to Kano State. He specially thanked the Federal Government for always supporting the people of Kano State in times of needs and appreciated His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia for considering Nigeria and the State for this particular food supports.

In her remarks, the Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Director Special Duties Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim highlighted the approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 42,000 metric tonnes food items from the National Strategic Grains Reserve to be distributed in the 774 Local Government Areas, noting that the gesture by the KSrelief was appreciated and facilitated as complementary to efforts by the Federal Government to cushion the impacts of global economic situation being felt in Nigeria.

Mr Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Albaben who led KSrelief team from Saudi Arabia to monitor the distribution said the gesture was from the Centre’s Eta’am Basket Project in Nigeria to support the feeding of the emunirated vulnerable persons impacted by economic situation.

He conveyed the goodwill of His Majesty, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and custodian of the two Holy Mosques in Medina and Mecca, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and KSrelief to the President and people of Nigeria.

The distribution today covered about 500 beneficiaries out of 2,056 enumerated to receive the food basket in Kano State.
