The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been nominated by Vanguard Newspaper for the Humanitarian Agency of the Year award.
The nomination letter was formally presented to the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, by a delegation of editors from the newspaper during a visit to her office at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The team was led by the General Editor of Vanguard, Mr. Jide Ajani, who explained that the nomination was approved by the Board of Editors in recognition of NEMA’s outstanding performance under the leadership of Mrs. Zubaida Umar, particularly in strengthening disaster risk reduction, improving preparedness, and ensuring timely response to disasters across the country.
Responding, the Director-General expressed appreciation to Vanguard Newspaper for the recognition and noted that the nomination would further motivate the Agency to sustain its commitment to effective disaster management and humanitarian service to Nigerians.
Other members of the delegation included Mr. Onochie Anibeze, Editor of Saturday Vanguard, and Mr. Charles Kumolu, Deputy Editor.
