NEMA CONDUCTS JOINT ASSESSMENT OF FIRE INCIDENT IN ZING LGA, TARABA STATE

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMC), and relevant security agencies, has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the recent fire incident in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The assessment team, led by NEMA’s Incident Commander, Mr. Giwa Kurutsi Siman (ACSARO), visited the affected communities of Zing A Dossa, Zing B Sanding, Tseni, and Lammas Ward, where several residential structures were destroyed by the fire.

Preliminary findings indicate that the fire outbreak was triggered by an electrical surge. The disaster resulted in the destruction of numerous homes, household items, and livestock. Properties worth millions of Naira were lost, and twelve persons sustained varying degrees of injuries.

NEMA extends its heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the incident and reaffirms its commitment to working closely with stakeholders to ensure timely relief interventions and long-term recovery efforts.
