On September 19, 2024, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Uyo Operations Office, in collaboration with the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CRS SEMA) and other stakeholders, distributed relief materials to victims of a windstorm disaster and communal clashes in Obubra Local Government Area, Cross River State. The relief, primarily food items, was part of federal efforts to support disaster victims.
The distribution was led by Mrs. Mmandu Aisueni, representing the NEMA Director General. She conveyed condolences and highlighted the federal government’s continued support. She also urged residents to stay alert, as Obubra is prone to floods. Apostle James Anam, the CRS SEMA DG, thanked NEMA for its swift intervention.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including state legislators, security agencies, local government officials, community leaders, and the media.
