NEMA Yola Operations Office on 29th October, 2023, received a report from Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) of a boat mishap with 104 passengers at Mayo Ranewo community, Karim Lamido LGA. Taraba State.
Search and rescue operations was activated immediately and out of the 104 passengers, fourteen (14) persons have been rescued, seventeen (17) dead bodies recovered while Seventy
Three (73) people remain unaccounted for. Response operations are still ongoing with the help of local divers.
NEMA, TSEMA and other stakeholders are coordinating the search and rescue operation for the unaccounted passengers.
