NEMA responds to Gasoline Truck Mishap in Rivers State

NEMA Emergency Response Team responds to a high pressure gasoline tube truck explosion incident at Obirikwere flyover along East West Road Port Harcourt. Rivers State.

The incident involving a 40 ton High Pressure Hydrogen Tube Truck loaded with gasoline and a Mazda 323F happened Tuesday 4th June, 2024 at about 08:43am.

The high pressured tube truck’s driver lost control of the vehicle and fell on top of a Mazda 323F vehicle that was stationed on the flyover waiting to carry passengers, this resulted to explosion of about 3 short-range gas tubes.

2 occupants of the Mazda 323F lost their lives while the truck driver and his technician were rescued alive.

Effort is being made by NEMA team, FRSC,NSCDC, NPF and Fed. Fire Service through deployment of heavy duty crane to lift the gas truck and extricate the Mazda car to recover the casualties .
