The presidential committee for flood and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provided relief supplies to the various LGAs in Abia State to reduce the impact of the recent flood disaster.
The items were delivered through NEMA Owerri Operation Office. Representing the Head NEMA Owerri Operations Office, Mr. Iweala Sunday expressed sympathy to the victims during the flag off ceremony held on 4th September 2025, at the Abia SEMA warehouse in Umuahia. He encouraged the community leaders to seek means to prevent or mitigate the root causes of the flood disaster.
Dr. Sunday Jackson, the Executive Secretary of Abia SEMA expressed gratitude for the presidential committee on flood and NEMA DG for the prompt action and assured NEMA that the victims will receive the relief items in equal manner.
The community leader High Chief Nwachukwu Chima responded on behalf of the beneficiaries and thanked the Federal Government for coming to their aid.
