Director General National Emergency Management Agency Mustapha Habib Ahmed  Presents Relief Materials Assorted Grains Approved by president Muhammadu Buhari To Akwa Ibom State Government For Distribution To Persons Affected by The Flood Disaster 

In continuation of the nationwide flood intervention, Director General National Emergency Management Agency Mustapha Habib Ahmed today Friday presented to Akwa Ibom State Government assorted relief materials delivered to the State for distribution to persons affected by the flood disaster that devastated many communities across the local government areas.

In addition, the NEMA DG Mustapha Habib Ahmed also handed over to the State Government, the Akwa Ibom share of the 12,000 metric tons of assorted grains from National Strategic Reserve that was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for distribution to vulnerable persons in the state.

Furthermore, Mustapha Habib Ahmed who led some Management staff of the Agency on a working visit to the state also inspected a newly donated office facility by the Akwa Ibom State Government for a proposed NEMA Operations Office in Uyo.

At the official presentation of the relief materials to the Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel at Government House Uyo, the NEMA DG commiserated with the Government and people of the state over the flood disaster.

He said arrangement were being made to carryout damage and loss assessment of the flood and hinted that there may be additional supports that would be delivered to further assist the affected persons.

Receiving the items, Governor Emmanuel who was represented by his Deputy Mr Moses Frank Ekpo appreciated NEMA for prompt delivery of the relief items.

He requested the DG-NEMA to also extend the appreciation of the State Government to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq for the kind gesture.

On the proposed NEMA Uyo Operation Office, the Akwa Ibom State Governor was optimistic that it will help to strengthen disaster management at the grassroots and attract more assistance towards management of disasters in the state.

The NEMA DG and his entourage, after inspection of the relief items with officials of the State Government at the warehouse, were taken to the office facility for the proposed NEMA Operations Office Uyo, where the Akwa Ibom State Head of Service conducted them round the complex.
