On April 24, 2025, staff of the NEMA Port Harcourt Operations Office, led by the Head of Operations, Mr. Ebhodaghe Eric, handed over and conducted direct distribution of relief materials to individuals and communities affected by the recent oil spill and fire disaster in Buguma, Degema LGA, Rivers State.While presenting the approved relief materials on behalf of the Director General, the South-South Zonal Director, Dr. Godwin Tepikor, urged the beneficiaries to make responsible use of the items provided to ease their hardship.Receiving the materials on behalf of the state government, the Director of SEMA, Engr. Ogbanga Tamunosiki, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the DG of NEMA for their swift response and generous support to the affected communities. He subsequently handed over the items for direct distribution to the beneficiaries.During the exercise, Mr. Ebhodaghe Eric encouraged community leaders and affected persons to ensure the relief materials are put to good use.Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dr. Alex Igbarima and Mrs. Stella B. Goodhead Wariboko (Women Leader) expressed appreciation to the DG of NEMA for the timely intervention and pledged to use the items as advised.
