The Disaster Risk Reduction department of the North Central Zonal Office had an orientation lecture and hands-on training for the Emergency Management Vanguard (EMVs) at the Jos South Secretariat Bukuru this day the 26th of March, 2024.
The head of department, Mr. Moses Okpe started with a paper presentation on an overview of NEMA, the history, it’s roles, functions and responsibilities in disaster management.
Mr Barde from the Federal Fire Service presented on Fire incident and Management Techniques include First Aid and Casualty handling while Mr. Felix Adua of NEMA presented a paper on First Aid. It was an interactive session.
The Corp members were also exposed to the use of extrication equipments in disaster management where some of them participated.
The EMVSs are expected to do a step-down training to the various DRR school Clubs in the schools within and around the environs.
