National Emergency Management Agency, South West Zonal Office, Ibadan distributed relief materials to victims of 2022 flood disaster in Oyo state.
The distribution which was done on the 30th of March, 2023, is to cushion the effect of the disaster and make them have sense of belonging in their trying time.
The distribution exercise was for the affected LGAs namely, Iddo, Iseyin, Akinyele, Atiba, ltesiwaju. Items distributed were food and non-food items, including that of Presidential committee on flood and rehabilitation to support the affected households.
While presenting the items to the beneficiaries, the Zonal coordinator, Mr Saheed Akiode expressed his sympathy to the affected person. He added that the items were graciously approved by Federal Gov’t through Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development and the National Emergency Management Agency, to support the affected households. Also, he reiterated the needs for the people to imbibe disaster management in their locality to forestall future occurrence as raining season is setting in.
On his part, the Executive Secretary of Oyo state Emergency Management Agency (OYSEMA), Mr Femi Opatunmbi commended NEMA for the gesture, saying the intervention is timely.
The beneficiaries came in their numbers to collect the items distributed, and expressed their profound appreciation to NEMA and the FG, for the relief materials as it would go a long way in reliefing them of the hardship since the flood occurrence. They promised to judiciously use the item given to them.
