
Towards strengthening the relationship between the Agency and the press; NEMA South East Zonal Office organized a media/press interactive forum for the new Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Martins Ejike Udeinya on Tuesday 16/02/2016.
During the interaction, the new Zonal Coordinator of NEMA South East Zone told the journalist in his office that the agency would use proactive disaster reduction mechanism to minimize the frequency of disasters. He stated that the agency would make disaster and its management a local and community-based issue by a way of carrying out massive and aggressive enlightenment campaign on disaster management and risk reduction.
He further stated that he would be working with a lot of stakeholders; faith-based organizations, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), rural women and youth groups as well as market associations and security personnel’s in the zone.
The coordinator said that the agency would strengthen its NYSC-Emergency Management Vanguard to be able to train and enlighten residents on disaster issues in communities where corps members were serving, and it will as well serve as a pool where NEMA could get extra man-power if the need arises in any council area or locality in the zone, he said.[fb_embed_post href=”https://www.facebook.com/nemanigeria/posts/1112068415491533/” width=”750″/]
