Officials from the Lagos Operations Office, in collaboration with various stakeholders, received 144 vulnerable Nigerian returnees from Libya. The coordinated effort involved the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Department of State Services (DSS), Port Health Services, and the Nigeria Police Force. The returnees were provided with essential assistance upon arrival.
The flight, a Boeing chartered aircraft with registration number 5A-BAB, landed at 16:45 hours. The returnees included 100 females, 8 males, 26 children, and 10 infants.
Upon arrival, the returnees underwent mandatory profiling and biometric exercises conducted by relevant agencies. They received immediate humanitarian support, including medical screening and counseling.
Following their reception, they were transported to the Igando IDPs Resettlement Center, where they will participate in reintegration programs led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). These programs aim to facilitate their smooth transition back into society.
