

Emergency Response Team of NEMA Lagos Territorial Office LTO responded to a collapsed building alert on 26th May, 2024. The affected building on Yusuf Street, Paapa Ajao, Mushin was a mosque (1 storey) with worshippers inside it. According to reports, the incident was caused by the accidental brushing of a construction company’s excavator against the structure. The building came down not too long after with 10 people trapped under. At the initial stage of search and rescue operation, 10 persons were brought out; 1 dead, 5 with minor injuries, and 4 seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Later in the day, 2 out of the 4 persons taken to the hospital were reported dead making the casualty 3 dead and 7 injured.
The building was brought to ground zero with no other casualty recovered.
