The Nigerian SOS village in partnership with NEMA today made cash donations to 71 victims of 2022 flood disasters in the riverine communities of Agboyi 1, 2 and 3 in Kosofe LGA of Lagos State.
Each of the 71 impacted people received N200,000 as cash donation with a condition that all would be under monitoring and guidance with a promise that successful beneficiaries who made judicious and successful investment of the donations will benefit from further assistance while 39 others had 60,000 naira each as take home without any further assistance.
The SOS Village sought the assistance of NEMA to reach out to the most vulnerable and impacted communities that could further be assisted in addition to support NEMA in lifting up the victims out of poverty that exacerbated their conditions which made them vulnerable to disasters.
NEMA led the Non-Governmental Organisation to the communities with assessment done to determine the vulnerable population with active participation of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
The distributions of the cash was conducted by the leader of the SOS Village, Mr Eghosa Erhuowunse, the National Director of the international NGO today in the presence of the traditional paramount ruler of Agboyi land, His Royal Highness, Engr. Moshood A. Adekanbi.
The event took place at the Community Town today.
