NEMA facilitates Two-Day Disaster Risk Management Stakeholders’ Engagement Organized by Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Collaboration with Jigawa, Katsina, and Lagos State Emergency Management Agencies

– 26th & 27th February 2025

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Territorial Office, successfully coordinated a two-day stakeholders’ engagement meeting, bringing together representatives from the Emergency Management Agencies of Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, along with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

LASEMA’s visit to Kano was a reciprocal engagement following an earlier study tour undertaken by a delegation from the Kano State Government to LASEMA, facilitated by the Head of the NEMA Kano Office. The objective of the initial visit was to study the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) system in Lagos, with the goal of establishing a similar framework in Kano State.

This engagement aimed to foster collaboration, share best practices, and strengthen disaster preparedness and response systems across the participating states. The active participation of Jigawa and Katsina SEMAs, alongside their key stakeholders, added significant value to the discussions, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and inter-state collaboration on disaster management strategies.

The involvement of these states created an invaluable opportunity for knowledge-sharing and synergy-building, reinforcing a collective approach toward enhancing disaster resilience in the region.
