NEMA HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS’ CONSULTATION WORKSHOP ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION STRATEGY AND ACTION PLAN 2023-2030 IN YOLA, ADAMAWA STATE.

In furtherance of it’s efforts towards effective Disaster Risk Reduction in Nigeria, NEMA in collaboration with UNDP and AUC organized stakeholders consultative workshop on the development of national disaster risk reduction strategy and action plan 2023 – 2030 in Yola, Adamwa State.

Declaring the workshop open, the Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed who was represented by Mr. Bitrus Samuel emphasized that the need for the development of the Plan arises from the outcomes of the assessment conducted by Overseas Development Institute on behalf of the United Nations Development Program on the Sahel Resilience Program. The assessment was aimed at ascertaining the status of Disaster Risk Reduction in the evaluation of the implementation of Sendai Framework 2015-2030 in the seven West African Sahel countries of Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal.

He further stated that the project is also within the context of multi-partnership implementation led by the UNDP in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), ECOWAS, and other regional organizations.

The workshop was attended by relevant stakeholders in disaster management.
