The Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed has assured of commitment by the Agency to promote disaster risk reduction in Nigeria to build community resilience against increasing global challenges of disasters.He gave the assurance today in Abuja at the opening of a technical workshop on United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Monitoring and Reporting Framework 2015-2030. The workshop was organized by NEMA in collaboration with United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction and United Nations Development Programme.
The Director General of NEMA expressed the agency’s commitment to disaster risk reduction in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and reporting. NEMA has actively participated in international forums and workshops, presenting Nigeria’s efforts in implementing the Sendai Framework. The agency aims to lead in disaster-resilient development in West Africa and Africa as a whole. Various stakeholders, including NiMet and NIHSA, have pledged their support for collaboration to enhance disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the country.
