National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has taken delivery of 20,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Bank of Industry (BOI) for onward distribution to persons affected by disasters.
The items were presented by the Managing Director of the bank Dr Olasupo Olusi during a visit to the headquarters of NEMA in Abuja. He said the donation was part of Corporate Social Responsibility of the bank to support persons affected by disasters in the country.
Responding, the Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar appreciated the BOI for the gesture and assured that the items would be distributed to the target beneficiaries.
She described the gesture as symbolic act of generosity that exemplifies the spirit of compassion and solidarity, while calling on the BOI to help in exploring ways of risk transfer, particularly for small-scale businesses susceptible to disasters by seeking innovative solutions to mitigate risks.”
