
The Zonal Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North East Zone, Mr. Sulaiman Yakubu, led a delegation including the Head of Operations, Mr. Ladan Ayuba, and three other staff members to a capacity building training held in Jalingo, Taraba State, on the 1st of August, 2025.
The program, themed “Building Resilient Committees & Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Taraba State,” was organized by the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Dr. Echuseh Audu. The event marked the inauguration and activation of Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) across the state.
The training brought together stakeholders from various local government areas, including community leaders, emergency responders, security agencies, and volunteers, all dedicated to enhancing grassroots disaster preparedness and response.
In his remarks, Mr. Yakubu commended TSEMA for its proactive initiatives and stressed the vital role of LEMCs in promoting early warning systems, disaster preparedness, and timely community-level response. He reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to supporting state and local institutions in line with national disaster management strategies.
Dr. Echuseh Audu, in her address, emphasized the Taraba State Government’s dedication to disaster risk governance and resilience building. She expressed gratitude to NEMA for its continued collaboration and urged participants to utilize the knowledge gained to protect lives and livelihoods in their communities.
The program concluded with renewed stakeholder commitments to strengthening coordination, enhancing rapid response mechanisms, and boosting public awareness to mitigate the effects of natural and human-induced disasters across the state.
