Following a report of boat misharps received On 7 July, 2024, a team of NEMA officials led by the Territorial Coordinator conducted an assessment of the incidence a long side, Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency at the above mentioned community in Auyo LGA of Jigawa
The incidence occurred at about 7:00 pm on 7th day of July, 2024,when the people of the community were returning from a nearby market of Gujungu Village. In their haste to get home, in a boat which according to the eye witnesses was overloaded with twenty (20) persons and their luggages, leading to the boat capsizing.
Despite efforts made by the local divers to rescue all passengers, only eighteen (18) were saved ( Fifteen (15) males and Three (3) females), while the remaining Two (2) females were drowned.
The affected persons were taken to Auyo General Hospital for medical attention.
