On 19th April 2025, the NEMA Port Harcourt Operations Office, in collaboration with the Federal Fire Service, Rivers State Command, conducted a sensitization programme at Wopara Foundation Market in Rukpokwu town.
The programme covered key topics including waste management, flood mitigation, fire safety, and a practical demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers. The goal was to equip traders with essential knowledge for maintaining a clean environment and managing fire-related emergencies.
During the session, Mr. Ifeanyi Omeje urged the market union to provide fire extinguishers and ensure fire preparedness. Mr. Anthony from the Federal Fire Service led both the theoretical and practical demonstrations, encouraging active trader participation.
Market Union leaders expressed gratitude for the training and welcomed future engagements. The programme ended successfully with the distribution of fire blankets to the market executives and group photographs to commemorate the event.
