
The Head of Office of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Mr. Trond Jensen, has briefed the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, on the UN agency’s ongoing review of its humanitarian operations in Nigeria.At a meeting held at the UNOCHA office in Abuja, Mr. Jensen explained that the review is aimed at optimizing available resources by placing greater emphasis on capacity-building initiatives, particularly through training programs designed to strengthen the capabilities of local humanitarian actors.Mrs. Zubaida Umar, who was accompanied by members of NEMA’s management team, expressed appreciation for UNOCHA’s continued support of humanitarian interventions in Nigeria. She reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to working in close collaboration with UNOCHA to enhance emergency response and humanitarian coordination across the country.3rd June, 2025
