Head of Sokoto Operations Office, Alh Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi declared the workshop open and presented a paper titled “An Overview of Disaster Management” in his presentation he stated ” As part of NEMA’s Disaster Risk Reduction strategies, NEMA Sokoto Operations Office has embarked on Sensitization campaigns on hazards associated with fire especially at this critical period of harmattan”
he added, with the onset of dry season, there’s always rise in the occurrence of fire incidents across the country.
Alhaji Nuhu Lawal representative of Sokoto State Fire Service advice residents of Sokoto on the dangers associated with the fire at this moment of harmattan and urged them to have functional fire extinguisher at their houses.
Also, a paper was presented by Mohd Ismaila Suru representative of the Federal Fire Service, Sokoto Command, titled ” Fire, prevention, mitigation and control” he stated that it’s expected that people should assimilate concepts involved in any kind of emergency.
On his part, the Director of National Orientation Agency appreciate Nema for coming up with workshop and Sensitization Rally, he further stressed that the campaign will promote and enlightened the general public on the dangers around them.
