National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has Organised a Downscaling of Early Warning and Flood mitigation and response Strategies workshop for Stakeholders at grassroots-level in Zamfara State to enhance early warnings and flood prevention strategies in line with the 2024 flood predictions . Director General NEMA Zubaida Umar, represented by Alhaji Sani Lokoja, Director ICT NEMA Headquarters Abuja emphasized the importance of community participation in disaster risk management.
The Governor of Zamfara State, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, urged residents to avoid dumping refuse in waterways and heed flood warnings.
A key presentation by NEMA’s Dapo Akingbade highlighted flood risk areas and suggested mitigation strategies. The event included contributions from various Stakeholders and featured discussions on enforcing environmental laws and promoting tree planting.
