National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) officially handed over approved Federal Government Grains from the strategic reserve to the Ekiti State Government in a ceremony which was graced by Top Ekiti State Government Officials, Traditional Rulers, Local Government chairmen, DSS, ICPC, NSCDC, Press, and other dignitaries.
In her Speech the Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar who was ably represented by the Zonal Director, South West Zonal Directorate, Mr Stephen Adewale stated that the Federal Government had earlier approved the release of 42,000 MT of assorted grains from the National strategic reserve to be distributed to the vulnerable persons in the country, to this effect,
Ekiti State has received
Maize 12,800 bags (50kg) and Garri 3,008 bags (25kg) which is to be distributed to the vulnerable persons across the 16 local government areas in Ekiti State.
In her Response, the Deputy Governor Her Excellency Chief (Mrs) Christianah Monisade Afuye who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the Federal Government for the gesture of providing palliatives to cushion the effects of the harsh economic situation on the vulnerable persons. She noted that the Ekiti State would ensure that the items are judiciously distributed to deserving beneficiaries who have been enumerated in the State. She further thanked the Director General NEMA for always supporting the State in the areas of Disaster Management and therefore solicited that this synergy be sustained.
