DG NEMA, Federal Government Delegation on Condolence Visit to Kwara State

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, was part of the Federal Government delegation led by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, that paid a condolence visit to Kwara State following the recent tragic killings in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area.

During the visit, the Vice President conveyed the heartfelt condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government to the Government and people of Kwara State, particularly the affected communities, over the unfortunate incident that claimed several lives.

He further disclosed that President Tinubu has directed the National Emergency Management Agency, to work with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to mobilise resources to provide humanitarian support and relief to the distressed communities.

In his remarks, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, appreciated the swift response of the Federal Government, noting that security forces were already on the ground and that NEMA officials had been present since the incident occurred. He called for continued prayers and collective support to ensure lasting peace in the state.

Also speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, commended President Tinubu and the Vice President for the prompt deployment of security personnel and other relevant agencies to the affected communities.
