The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Enugu Operations Office has distributed relief items to victims of recent flood disaster in Onitsha North and Onitsha South Federal Constituency of Anambra state. This is with a view to encourage the affected/impacted population that the Federal Government cares for them.
The direct distribution exercise was held at Three-Three community on 3rd October, 2025. Speaking during the flag off of the distribution exercise Mrs Ngozi Echeazu, on behalf of the Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar condole with the affected over their huge losses. She said that the approved relief items by the federal government is to ameliorate their sufferings, not a replacement of their loss. Mrs Echeazu stressed that it is a collective responsibility of everybody to mitigate flood risk through clearance of water ways, proper waste disposal, not building structures on water ways etc. Items distributed include: Rice, Garri, Spaghetti, Vegetable oil, Seasoning cubes, Tomato paste, and Iodized salt.
In response, Hon. (Engr) Emeka Idu, Member representing Onitsha North/Onitsha South Federal Constituency, Anambra state, expressed gratitude and satisfaction for the timely intervention of the Federal Government and NEMA in providing relief items to the affected population.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Federal government/NEMA for the provision of relief support and equitable distribution of the relief items. The distribution exercise was successful as the beneficiaries conducted themselves well.
