NEMA ENGAGES NNS PATHFINDER FOR FLOOD RESPONSE

The Zonal Coordinator NEMA South South Godwin Tepikor today led a team of officials from the zone on a courtesy visit to the Commander NNS PATHFINDER, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt Commander SD Ibrahim in his office in Port Harcourt. In attendance were Senior Officers and Officers of the command including Capt. SMC Umeh, Commander UA Sidi, LtCdr HI Asila and LtCdr RA Iginla. The Zonal Coordinator extended the compliments of the DG to the Commander and informed him that they were in his office to seek the support of the DRU of NNS PATHFINDER in the ongoing response to the flood ravaging Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State by providing platforms to assist and compliment the Operations of NNS Soroh, Yenagoa in the ferrying of stranded persons across the East-West Road that is still submerged by flood. The Zonal Coordinator also requested the cooperation of the Command in the movement of relief assistance through the river to Bayelsa State in order to cushion the impact of the flood disaster on the affected persons in Bayelsa State. In his response, the Commander thanked the Zonal Coordinator for the visit and pledged that they were ready for the collaboration so as to assist the Agency deliver on their mandate. He further requested that there should be further collaboration with the NEMA in carrying out regular simulation exercises to better equip both organizations for enhanced service delivery in times of emergency.
Souvenirs were exchanged between the Commander and the Zonal Coordinator.
